THE BRIEF
–
Champion looks for its champions somewhere other than the stadium. The film follows Wonsemble, a French collective of street acrobats that came out of parkour and hand-to-hand balancing, and shoots them where they actually train: stone steps, the banks of the Seine, footbridges over the tracks. Thirty seconds of faces and lifts, no competition and no podium, leading to a single line, “Be your own champion”.
OUR PLAYGROUND
–
First Frame handled the executive production of the film in France. Apart from the director and the UK producer, the entire shoot was built on our side: crewing and running the technical team, location scouting and permits, on-set logistics, hair, make-up, styling, stills photography and coordinating the acrobats between takes. One thing had to be achieved, and it never shows on screen: letting a production that flies in from London shoot in Paris as if it were home. Only post-production happened elsewhere.
