THE BRIEF

Open Anime, une épopée japonaise. Rather than announce the film, the title sequence had to do what the film says, and recall where the viewer’s emotion comes from.

OUR PLAYGROUND

A fully animated title sequence, produced like an anime. Each shot pays tribute to a family of Japanese animation: a child alone in front of the television, a sky crossed by a shooting star, a torii at the top of a stone stairway, a red-caped warrior before ruined columns, a schoolyard on a summer day, a mecha standing in a night city. The credits sit on these shots.

Then the logo is built on an animation desk, peg bar and construction lines visible, before settling on a paper background, circled by an orange brushstroke.
